Binnies has been shaping Hong Kong’s infrastructure landscape since the mid 1930s. Starting with a strong foundation in water engineering, the company has grown into a full-service consultancy delivering integrated expertise across planning, design, construction management and commissioning for the built environment.
Pioneering infrastructure solutions for a thriving city
For nearly a century, Binnies has contributed to Hong Kong’s development through engineering solutions tailored to the city’s changing needs. Our landmark projects include major impounding reservoirs such as High Island and Plover Cove reservoirs, as well as the large‑scale developments in Tin Shui Wai and Yuen Long New Town.
We also delivered Hong Kong’s first cavern service reservoir at the University of Hong Kong and pioneered innovative underground stormwater storage schemes at Tai Hang Tung and Happy Valley.
Delivering resilient and sustainable infrastructure
Today, we remain at the forefront of delivering infrastructure that strengthens Hong Kong’s resilience in the face of climate, water and urban challenges.
Our recent work spans a diverse range of projects, including Tseung Kwan O Desalination Plant, the city’s first seawater reverse osmosis facility, enhancing long-term water supply resilience; the effluent polishing plants at San Tin and Yuen Long South, adopting advanced treatment technologies and enabling high-efficiency nutrient removal, water reuse and improved environmental performance; and Yuen Long Barrage Scheme, a pioneering flood protection initiative integrating flood control, ecological revitalisation and public space enhancement.
We also utilised digital and engineering expertise to develop an award-winning digital tool for drainage network design, streamlining and modernising drainage network planning.

Binnies supports Hong Kong’s transition towards a more sustainable future through forward-looking environmental and energy solutions.
Recently, we provided engineering consultancy for the integrated waste management facility I.PARK2, one of the city’s most significant waste-to-energy facilities, and for the district cooling system for Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen’s New Development Area, an energy-efficient air-conditioning system designed to reduce long-term carbon emissions. We also advance renewable energy through projects such as the floating solar farm at Plover Cove Reservoir and the large‑scale solar installation at the South East New Territories Landfill.
