Flowing in a new direction
Binnies is delighted to welcome Dan Easterbrooke as an asset management consultant in the operations and maintenance team. Dan has over ten years’ experience working within hydraulic engineering. He completed training to become a mobile hydraulic fitter and then a house hose assembler within a hydraulic company, building up experience on water company sites.
Dan was then involved in a motorcycle accident, which shattered numerous vertebrae and resulted in him having metalwork in his foot. This affected his mobility and his ability to manage the heavy lifting required for his job. He made a career change into sales but has missed working within the engineering industry. Binnies was thrilled to offer Dan a role that utilises his existing skills and provides him with development opportunities. Support to work from home encouraged Dan that this was the role for him, and he is now undertaking an administrative role where one of his key tasks includes preparing standard operating procedures (SOP), which are created in consultation with the client, ensuring the most efficient, effective and reliable practice is employed once the asset is handed back to them.
Dan’s engineering knowledge has enabled him to hit the ground running and swiftly adapt to his new role. He is currently training for his Institute of Asset Management (IAM) certificate and plans to progress to the diploma. Binnies is supporting Dan with his research and study.
Dan said, “I’m happy to be back working within the engineering world, and I am really excited about progressing my career and obtaining the IAM certification. I appreciate the support from my team and the wider Binnies group, as it has made it easy to settle in and get going.”
Adam Johnson, Head of Operations and Maintenance, said, “We are really pleased to bring Dan into the team; his appointment encompasses all the values of our engaged programme where we are able to offer someone who has been through a life-changing event the opportunity to embark on a new career. Since joining, Dan has really embedded himself within the team and is already proving to be an asset to the business, and as he grows through his asset management journey, this will undoubtedly continue to be the case.”
