Binnies’ Joint Venture team announce award success for exemplary health and safety standards

Binnies UK Ltd is thrilled to announce that its amey-binnies (ab) joint venture has achieved a prestigious accolade in what has been described as the “toughest health and safety competition in the world”.

ab has received a Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President’s Health and Safety Award, presented for seven consecutive gold awards for exemplary health and safety standards, and the joint venture’s achievement will be recognised at a live virtual awards ceremony next month.

The ceremony, hosted by broadcaster and journalist Ed James on 9 September, will be attended by RoSPA President Baroness Jolly and Chief Executive Errol Taylor and the event will feature an online auction to raise funds for the vital Keeping Kids Safe campaign.

The prestigious RoSPA awards recognise world leaders in health and safety practice, and each year sees almost 2000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in the UK’s longest-running health and safety industry awards.

Alan Knowles, Scotland Delivery Director and ab board member, expressed his delight at the honour, saying, “For the Amey Binnies joint venture to receive its seventh successive RoSPA Gold Award is a superb achievement and is high praise and deserved recognition for everyone in the amey-binnies team.

“As we continue to deliver our huge programme of capital work for Scottish Water, whether it be our professionals based on site or for those working from home or office, we are immensely proud to have a positive and sustained commitment to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all who are touched by our projects.”

The ab joint venture delivers the wastewater infrastructure programme of capital work for Scottish Water and sees the partners provide expertise in the design and construction of civil engineering infrastructure.

The work encompasses the delivery of a £427 million sewer system investment programme and approximately 500 large projects, including the installation of new sewers, sewer repairs, overflow structures and pumping stations.
