Binnies reservoirs team develops its expertise

Rachel Davies joins Binnies, bringing significant dam and reservoir experience from her time at Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW).

Rachel’s career as a civil engineer began at Black and Veatch (now Binnies UK) and we are delighted to welcome her back into our reservoirs team. Rachel has spent close to a decade working for DCWW, specialising in the area of dams and reservoirs. Rachel’s most recent role has been dam safety capital client manager, working with a team producing and delivering the capital investment programme for dam safety. This entailed producing and delivering an annual rolling five-year business plan for dam safety, with a budget of approximately £130 million to invest for the current AMP period. She drove effective asset management, building trust with operational teams to understand their requirements. She is currently the British Dam Society vice chair and hopes to ensure that Binnies’ involvement in the society remains strong.

Rachel said, “I am excited to be joining the reservoirs team in Binnies at a time when our industry is facing another period of transformation. My intention as a member of the team is to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from a reservoir undertaker/client’s perspective, through sharing, learning and engaging with other members of the team, as well as wider Binnies and RSK employees.”

Rachel joins the Binnies reservoirs team, which provides technical expertise in dam engineering and reservoir safety across the world. Our team includes All Reservoir Panel Engineers, Service Reservoir Panel Engineers and Supervising Engineers, as well as dam experts in geotechnical engineering, hydraulics and hydrology and structural engineering. Matt Coombs, Binnies Reservoir Delivery Director, commented, “We are delighted that Rachel has joined our expanding Binnies reservoir team. Her background and experience as a reservoir undertaker, with a significant portfolio of reservoirs of all ages and types, will be invaluable to our clients and complements our existing capabilities. This is particularly relevant when considering the operational and maintenance requirements of major reservoir works, funding pressures and regulatory demands.”
