Dynamic maintenance under the spotlight!
Binnies Lead Data Specialist David Smith was delighted to participate in the Pump Centre’s Yorkshire Water conference held on 28 June in Leeds. The event was hosted by Yorkshire Water in conjunction with the Pump Centre.
The theme of this year’s Yorkshire Conference was Industry 4.0 enabled by Dynamic Maintenance. The aim of this conference was to explore and understand how we’re building an approach to managing the long-term health of operational assets. This approach must focus on customer service and environmental protection; the entire asset life cycle; asset safety and resilience; regulatory compliance; and affordability.
David co-presented with Alistair Dean, Principal Engineer – ICA from Yorkshire Water, on the topic of “The Digital Twin, Data Aggregation, Edge Computing & Cloud AI”. The conference also saw presentations from Yorkshire Water maintenance experts along with equipment vendors.
“It was great to be back at an event with so many committed professionals working to bring the benefits of dynamic maintenance to our industry,” David said. “It’s clear that everyone now understands that the data generated by the assets is vital to achieving this. At the conference, we saw examples of the vast range of data being gathered and some smart analytics to help make sense of it all.
“I was pleased to talk about how the implementation of our Helix product at Yorkshire Water is helping to capture both raw data and the outputs of analyses, along with photogrammetry and buildings information, to build a holistic digital representation of the asset systems. We were also keen to demonstrate how we are integrating machine-learning models to help our users find insight among the noise and make the best decisions possible,” he added. “I think the delegates understood that Helix is open and flexible, bringing together data from many sources and supporting users to configure their own outputs and visualisations and share across the team. In this way, we can grow with our clients, as more assets start giving us more information, ensuring each user has everything they need to deliver a great service,” he concluded.
