Getting smart with water

Rodrigue Kemgne, Binnies’ BIM Coordinator, presented at the Water Management Smart Class 2022, held on 10 November in Birmingham, UK. This event provided the opportunity to hear thought-leadership presentations and hold in-depth consultations with experts and peers. Rodrigue presented on behalf of the BIM4Water cross-industry group, alongside Clare Kovacs and Jamie Mills, on the topic “Driving digital transformation of a sector in support of the national digital twin programme, with a key focus on 4D and beyond”.

The presentation began with an overview of BIM4Water. The group has brought individuals together to tackle key industry challenges using digital tools and processes. This has created a group with a diverse array of unusual participants and competitors working alongside each other in a truly collaborative way. Rodrigue highlighted the key work of the 4D BIM and Beyond Task Group and its future plans to support the water sector in its adoption of visualisation to drive digital transformation and great collaborative practices.

Rodrigue explained to stakeholders how 4D BIM (digital rehearsals), and other dimensions of BIM such as 5D BIM (cost estimating), 6D BIM (facility management), 7D BIM (sustainability), 8D BIM (health and safety) and nD BIM (unlimited dimensions) can be harnessed to successfully deliver digital twins.
