Liliana Rose joins Binnies’ flood risk, coast and maritime team

Liliana Rose is a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager with the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and Chartered Scientist, who brings a wealth of experience of flood risk management and has over 15 years of experience in the consultancy sector in the UK, delivering for local authorities and the Environment Agency. Liliana is an expert in appraisal, business case development and carbon reduction and has led a number of flood risk management projects across England.

Liliana has joined Binnies’ rapidly growing flood risk, coast and maritime team to help broaden its advisory services for local government bodies while helping them to promote sustainable long-term solutions that best meet the needs of communities and reach their strategic flood risk management and net zero aspirations. She started her career as a hydraulic modeller, supporting the delivery of flood risk management projects for the Environment Agency. She progressed to senior modeller and senior engineer after achieving her chartership, working on projects of larger scale and complexity while taking on the training and development of teams abroad.

After moving on from modelling, Liliana expanded her expertise into delivering quality feasibility, appraisal and business cases with a strong focus on capacity building. Liliana has also undertaken a secondment in one of the Environment Agency regional teams to lead the development of the pipeline of projects for the six-year programme commencing in 2021. Throughout her career, Liliana has worked closely with local authorities, helping to develop and manage capital investment programmes for flood risk management.

Liliana is passionate about mentoring others and helping them achieve their professional and personal potential across the organisations she works with and contributes to. She is a member of the CIWEM Rivers and Coastal Group committee and acts as a CIWEM chartership assessor/interviewer. In addition, she is an enthusiastic Beaver Scouts colony leader at her local group.

Hannah Coogan, Regional Delivery Director for the Midlands, says, “I am delighted to welcome Liliana to our new team in Birmingham. Liliana brings a wealth of experience working for risk management authorities and will help us to further grow our business, working across the Midlands and with local authorities. Her expertise in appraisal and net zero is key to unlocking the difficulties our clients have in delivering sustainable flood alleviation schemes in light of the increasing challenge from climate change.”
