New Civil Engineer’s Graduate and Apprentice Awards 2024
Graduate Civil Engineer Naomi Betts has been shortlisted in the New Civil Engineer’s Graduate and Apprentice Awards 2024, which are designed to recognise and reward the most inspiring civil engineering graduates and apprentices.
The awards ceremony takes place on Friday, 22 November at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) headquarters at 1 Great George Street in London, where six young professionals will be crowned in front of key industry figures. We are so proud of Naomi, and we would like to highlight some of her achievements at Binnies that have made a significant impact across the business during her time with us.
Naomi is a founding member of the Binnies Professional Development Network initiative
The initiative aims to connect individuals pursuing professional qualifications across the business. The network facilitates networking, resource sharing and participation in career development events.
As a reverse mentor to a senior leader at Binnies, Naomi impacts company strategy on current topics. She is a member of the ICE North Wales Graduates, Students, Apprentice and Technicians (GSAT) committee and is currently contributing to its workshops. She also volunteers for the RSK Women’s Network and has organised International Women in Engineering Day events for the past two years, including presenting and encouraging peers to contribute too.
Naomi consistently demonstrates Binnies’ ‘engaged’ behaviours, the values that matter most to the business, especially through her commitment to learning and development. She completed ICE’s five-week sustainability course to enrich her understanding of low-carbon design and its practical application.
Naomi’s proactive approach and desire to share information to support graduates, apprentices and interns have been recognised by both Binnies and the wider sector. Her successes include winning the Early Career Professional Award at the Binnies People Awards 2023 and being shortlisted for the 2024 ICE North West Rising Star Award and the 2022 ICE Wavin’s Water Future Challenge.
