Richard Terrell appointed to Reservoir Supervising Engineers Panel

Binnies is delighted to announce that Richard Terrell, Engineering Manager, based in the water utilities department in South Wales, has been appointed to the Reservoir Supervising Engineers Panel for England and Wales under the Reservoirs Act 1975. Richard joins an illustrious team of 190 panel engineers that is leading the way in British reservoir innovation, alongside five Binnies staff that are pre-existing panel members: Rachel Pether (All Reservoir Panel Engineer), Dominic Molyneux (All Reservoir Panel Engineer), Matthew Coombs (Supervising Engineer), John Hopkins (Supervising Engineer) and Stephen Cavanagh (Service Reservoir Engineer).

As a design manager within Binnies’ reservoir team, Richard is continuing Binnies’ long history in reservoir engineering in ensuring the safety of the reservoirs within the UK. This achievement is not only a personal highlight of Richard’s career but also contributes to Binnies’ continual growth of expertise and specialism within the UK reservoir safety and maintenance landscape. Richard has been appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in England and Wales, which means that reservoir undertakers of high‐risk reservoirs in England and Wales can now appoint Richard to supervise their reservoirs, keeping them compliant under the Reservoirs Act 1975.

When asked what this means for his personal and professional life, Richard stated, “I love working on reservoirs, as they have so much history and benefit to society, and I love being able to help preserve that history for the next generation. In addition to being able to visit some of the most amazing and scenic parts of the country, I can contribute more to Binnies’ expertise and dedication to maintaining and developing our country’s precious assets.”

In addition to boosting Binnies’ knowledge base and foundation of expertise within the reservoir maintenance and safety arena, Richard will be able to expand Binnies’ presence further in the UK by representing South Wales on the panel, a key area that the company has sought coverage in, due to its incredible natural water resources and the number of reservoirs.
