Safety Fortnight at Binnies

Binnies employees were delighted to take part in the RSK Safety Fortnight, which took place from 9–19 November in the last quarter of 2021. Seven workshops were hosted across two weeks to discuss “Homeworker health and safety”, “Healthy desk-based work”, “Management of work-related stress” and “Introduction to occupational health, fitness to work and fatigue awareness” on top of the mandatory module, “Managing occupational health”.

Hear what some of our colleagues had to say:

“The sharing of views across the breakout rooms enabled different viewpoints to be heard, which made the session interesting.” Ng Soo Beng, Binnies Singapore

“Safety Fortnight is a good reminder of safety and the importance of keeping stress levels at bay.” Charlotte Ngai, Binnies Singapore

“There was anticipation from many about how this session would turn out, but overall, it was a success and it was nice to meet other colleagues in the business that I would not have interacted with directly through my projects. I was the group leader for the small breakout sessions and all members contributed to the sessions.” Hasmita Kerai, Binnies UK

“The safety day workshop was a very informative and engaging session that reinforced how important occupational health and the management of stress are in our daily lives: at work, in our personal lives and in the connection between them. The session covered a broad range of topics and included useful reminders and tips to manage daily problems such as fatigue and stress, so we can look after ourselves and our colleagues – a really great session!” Rachel Cossins, Binnies UK

“The group discussion sessions allowed me and my colleagues, whom I work with and meet on a daily basis, to have a candid conversation about stress, a subject that we normally would not have discussed. The conversation helped me a lot, as I now know that people around me understand and support me in ways I did not expect.” Andy Chan, Binnies Hong Kong

“The workshop not only emphasised the importance of safety during construction work, but also the wellbeing of employees, keeping them constantly motivated and active in the working environment.” Vanessa Leung, Binnies Hong Kong

Due to COVID, the sessions in Asia were delivered virtually and in Hong Kong, site-based staff attended the safety workshops separately at their project sites within the local COVID regulations and guidance.

Safety has always been our number one priority. Running the workshops was a good opportunity to remind us of the importance of a healthy and safe work environment. Our staff had fruitful discussions at the sessions and generated a lot of practical ideas and suggestions to manage occupational health and stress at work.

We look forward to a healthy and safe 2022 at the workplace and at home. Till the next RSK Safety Fortnight, stay safe!
