Solutions By Nature awarded River Restoration Framework
Solutions By Nature is excited to announce that it has been awarded a position on Thames Water’s AMP7 River Restoration Framework, focusing on habitat improvement and resilience via river restoration and fish passage schemes throughout London and the Thames Valley. Delivery of these soft-engineered solutions will greatly support Thames Water in meeting its regulatory obligations under the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP).
Potential solutions will include weir removal/modifications, channel bed re-profiling, replacing banks with softer and more natural options, fish passage and rock ramps and in channel gravel installation.
Solutions By Nature was awarded a position on the framework owing to the specialist skills and experience in river restoration of its joint venture (JV) partners, Binnies and Salix River & Wetland Services. This collaboration brings together capability and knowledge in operating on environmentally sensitive sites and a passion for delivering nature-based solutions. The JV is also able to offer its own specialist plant and machinery designed for working in unique conditions and vast experience in dealing with multiple stakeholder groups, including local communities.
Tony Demetriou, Chief Operating Officer of Solutions By Nature, stated “Our joint venture partners have delivered numerous successful projects for Thames Water over multiple AMP periods and this framework is a fantastic opportunity for Solutions By Nature to support the UK’s largest water and wastewater company once again. Together, we will overcome key challenges under the WINEP programme, while improving habitats and biodiversity and providing opportunities to reconnect the general public with nature.”
This framework adds to the recent expansion of the Solutions By Nature portfolio which includes being a key partner to Anglian Water Services in delivering one lot of its River Restoration Framework and the entire programme of feasibility studies on its constructed wetlands programme.
