Ports, harbours and marine terminals
The shipping sector is addressing major challenges, including BREXIT, post-pandemic recovery and strict enforcement of environmental regulations. Further challenges include ageing infrastructure, climate change, measures to achieve net-zero carbon and decarbonisation of operations.
We have been working across the shipping sector delivering port, harbour and marine terminal projects for over 50 years and offering a multidisciplinary consultancy services approach that helps clients to achieve optimised solutions. Our services range from initial activities such as project formulation, condition assessment, planning through to design, construction supervision and whole life-cycle asset management. We also provide planning and engineering solutions in environmentally sensitive locations. What sets us apart is the ability to support every point in the life cycle of our clients’ port, harbour and marine terminal assets.
We support major infrastructure improvements that include cruise terminals, berths, jetties and storage facilities such as warehousing. Our team has a strong track record of successfully delivering projects within ports, harbours and bulk-handling, oil-and-gas, container and cargo-handling terminals.
Our experienced maritime professionals include engineers, architects, planners, economists, environmental specialists, asset management specialists and data analytics experts who give Binnies a unique position to provide total solutions to port, harbour and marine terminal clients.
We work on a variety of projects. For example, we carried out the detailed design of two new finger jetties for a 50-t boat hoist at military training facility at Portsmouth, UK, for the Ministry of Defence. We were also appointed as the designer and owner’s engineer for the berthing structures for the 1320-MW thermal power plant Long Phu 2 in Vietnam, which included the design of three jetty structures with main platform areas supporting feedstock and ash loading/unloading equipment, capital dredging for vessel manoeuvring, berth pockets and offshore mooring points (designed to provide berthing for 3,000-10,000-dwt barges) and cooling water intake/outfall structures.
