Binnies has undertaken projects for water companies, the private sector and government organisations in both the UK and overseas. We use the latest software to deliver solutions and draw on global best practice. Our recent work with Anglian Water on real-time modelling for pollution control has highlighted the true benefits of enhanced modelling approaches. We provide a full suite of services across the clean- and wastewater areas.
Our clean-water expertise encompasses many areas. We have extensive experience in model construction and building, field testing and calibrating all types of water networks and we work with clients, including Thames Water, to develop modelling specifications. We undertake international masterplans for countries including Bahrain and support the development of holistic infrastructure plans in support of UK water companies’ final business plans. We assist with operational planning by utilising network models to undertake and audit district meter area and pressure management area designs; clients include Southern Water. We undertake water quality modelling for clients, advise the Department of Health on pollution incidents, and support the Drinking Water Inspectorate in the investigation of discolouration incidents. We provide advice in the areas of water management and distribution issues, through both design and construction phases.
Using model analysis, we can predict flooding and design the most cost-effective solutions to flooding problems, for example, the River Thames Scheme for the Environment Agency. We undertake water quality modelling to satisfy the requirements of the Urban Pollution Management manual while developing tools for carrying out assessments against the required standards. We provide growth and development impact assessments, incorporating strategic growth as well as infill development for small-scale sites. We have designed integrated urban drainage schemes for catchments including Canvey Island; our clients include local authorities, the Environment Agency and Anglian Water. We also design schemes to resolve unsatisfactory CSOs through spill frequency analysis, design of new CSO chambers and the selection of reliable screens addressing the issue of intermittent discharges.
