Naomi Betts’ career journey at Binnies has been a remarkable story of ambition, growth and recognition
From joining us as an intern to being Highly Commended at the New Civil Engineer (NCE) Graduate of the Year Awards, Naomi’s career trajectory highlights not only her technical expertise but also her leadership potential. As she prepares to take the next step by joining Binnies Australia in January 2025, her story is an inspiration to all aspiring engineers.
From intern to early career Professional of the Year
Naomi joined Binnies as an intern then post-graduation, she stepped into the world of engineering with a strong foundation in academics and a clear vision of where she wanted her career to go.
Her commitment to professional development and excellence didn’t go unnoticed. In 2023, Naomi was named Binnies Early Career Professional of the Year. This recognition was a testament to her strong technical abilities, her collaborative approach and the dedication she brought to every project she was involved in. It also reflects Binnies’ commitment to nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for growth.
She was shortlisted for the 2024 Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) North West Rising Star Award and the 2022 ICE Wavin’s Water Future Challenge.
A highly commended achievement at NCE Graduate of the Year
Building on her success within Binnies, Naomi’s career continued to shine in the wider engineering community. At the NCE Graduate and Apprentice of the Year Awards last week, Naomi was Highly Commended, placing her among the top emerging talents in the UK’s engineering sector. Recognition by this prestigious organisation further highlighted her excellence and the potential she has to shape the future of the industry.
Tim O’Brien, Binnies Commercial Framework Director, recruited Naomi and was there to witness her achievement last week.
A new chapter: Binnies Australia
As Naomi’s journey at Binnies unfolds, she is set to take on an exciting new challenge. In January 2025, she will be making the transition to Binnies Australia to further broaden her horizons and make a global impact. This move marks the next step in her career, where she will be applying the knowledge and experience she has gained in the UK to the engineering landscape in Australia. The opportunity to work in a new country with diverse projects and challenges will undoubtedly fuel her professional growth.
Binnies Australia presents a fantastic opportunity for Naomi to gain experience in international markets.
