We assisted Thames Water with producing two of the technical appendices supporting the Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP)

The ‘Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) Technical Appendix’ sets out how Thames Water will work with partners to increase the number of SuDS delivered across London and the Thames Valley. Partnership working, alongside lessons learned from existing and future SuDS projects and ensuring that SuDS are prioritised and maximised at every opportunity, will help Thames Water to realise their ambition of disconnecting over 7500 hectares of impermeable surfaces from sewers and redirecting into SuDS by 2050.

Managing surface water flood risk in London

The ‘Our response to London Flooding 2021 Technical Appendix’ details the causes and impacts of the London 2021 floods and the complexity of managing surface water flood risk in London. It covers the different reviews undertaken in response to the floods, including Thames Water’s internal review and the London Flood Review, their findings and recommendations and how this led to an unprecedented and coordinated approach to tackle surface water flood risk.

Our expert in strategic planning and SuDS, Patricia Cuervo (Regional Delivery Manager, Flood, Coast and Maritime), worked with Thames Water’s teams and liaised with Transport for London, the Greater London Authority and several London boroughs to produce the appendices.
