Prior Park Landscape Garden dam and pond restoration

This important historical site, owned by the National Trust, has undergone an exciting and crucial restoration project. It is a heritage site with 18th century dams and one of England’s last Palladian bridges. The ongoing aim is to restore the garden to its 1764 state, at the time of creator Ralph Allen’s death, while also protecting the dam and gardens for future generations. Improved accessibility with additional footpaths and the creation of a more authentic sweeping lawn down to the lakes has opened up more of the garden for visitors.

The project team consisted of Binnies as the designer, Alun Griffiths as the contractor and Nicholas Pearson Associates as the landscape architect, along with Architecton, Alltree and Mildred Howells & Co. All worked collaboratively to deliver this project as sustainably as possible, maximising the reuse of material and ensuring the historical integrity of the design and delivery. The ICE South West Awards are highly respected in the industry, and being shortlisted is a significant achievement in itself. This nomination reflects the outstanding contributions of everyone involved in the Prior Park project and highlights the innovation, sustainability and overall excellence of our work.

Newlyn Tidal Research and Development project

We were also involved in the shortlisted research and development project, fulfilling the roles of Environmental Clerk of Works and site supervisor. We worked alongside the Environment Agency (EA) and principal contractor Kier to deliver this sustainable, innovative project.

Working on award-nominated projects is testament to our commitment to excellence and the positive impact our work has on the community. The project provides learning opportunities, and hopefully coastal authorities can use this technology in other projects and locations in the future.
