Patri Cuervom, Binnies Regional Delivery Manager, joined The Grand Challengers Podcast, where she shared her experiences and insights from working in flood risk policy over the past 20 years.
Before joining Binnies, she worked for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, shaping flood risk and drainage planning policy for the community.
Her journey to date comprises many hats that she has worn in practice, from local government to consulting, and a diverse portfolio of water projects, where she has actively embraced stakeholder engagement in shaping policy and emergency situations.
Her insights show the impacts felt by those who experience flooding and the toll on mental health that the issue causes. Patri employed her technical knowledge to provide the best solutions but is also passionate about the need to form relationships within the community and support them as much as possible. A serious flooding event in 2021 displaced many residents and affected local businesses, a distressing experience for all involved. Patri shares how empathy and her training as a Crisis Support Officer helped her to support residents at this time.
Listen to Patri talk about her role and the invaluable contribution of openness and transparency with stakeholders in this insightful and thought-provoking conversation.
