Come and hear from David Jackson on the topic of ‘Compact water and wastewater treatment systems process design in Hong Kong’.
Join this webinar hosted by the CIWEM South Eastern branch to find out more about how Hong Kong is addressing the challenges of land scarcity. With the high price of land, Hong Kong authorities are looking to achieve maximum treatment capacity on existing works footprints. Building on Binnies experience at Tai Po Water Treatment Works, the first stacked treatment facility in Hong Kong, David Jackson developed compact treatment design options for many projects.
At Tai Po, we used an innovative three storey buried pipe gallery to achieve compact stacked treatment in the early 2000’s. The next generation of treatment plants is using new technology, close-coupled and stacked treatment units to achieve even more compact treatment layouts.
At Sha Tau Kok, a new treatment plant on the existing works footprint will treat eight times the current flows to a strict effluent permit discharging to sensitive water. At Siu Ho Wan, the new treatment stream will treat raw water to four log Cryptosporidium and Giarrdia removal, Manganese and MIB oxidation using ozone within a six storey single structure treatment stream.
In this talk, David will discuss design at the Sha Tau Kok Sewage Treatment Works and Siu Ho Wan Water Treatment Works, exploring how to achieve challenging treatment objectives within tiny spaces.
David Jackson has 21 years experience working with new process treatment technologies. He has expertise in water, wastewater and sludge treatment both in the UK and internationally, spending over eight years located in Hong Kong.
